March is here! And with it, spring break... A week to play with your child(ren). Indoors and outdoors, too, because the sun is out and about. βοΈ We asked mommy blogger Lobke Gielkens for her tips for spring break. It's a mix of fun activities and play ideas that will make the holidays fly by.
1. Yes, it's Carnival!
Dig out the costume kit and go all out with the craziest creations. Paint each other's faces and make it a party! π Or make the coolest masks yourself: you'll find inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram. Don't forget to post your own creations too. Feel free to tag Fairplace π.
2. Go out to a carnival parade
Fancy a dress and want to see others? Then head out to a local carnival parade. Admire the floats , dance to the music, and catch some candy! π¬π¬ A perfect outdoor activity for the whole family, whatever the weather.
Tip : You can go to Aalst, of course, but there are also fun carnival parades by the sea during the spring break. Check out the websites for Blankenberge, Knokke, or Zeebrugge.
3. Nature walk with a twist
Check online for a walking route near you (see RouteYou, Komoot, or Routezoeker) and put on sturdy shoes. Make a treasure hunt list : who can find pine cones, spot three different birds, find a branch shaped like..., which spring buds can you already see?
Fun play idea : use our Tickit Forest Path Set to recreate (or recreate) the nature experience at home.
4. Take a bike ride with a mini picnic
Load up your bike basket with treats and head out. π² Stop at a playground or open field along the way, spread out a tablecloth, and have a mini picnic with your kids.
5. Stacking fun in the garden
Do you also have a set of those fun Stacking Stones? Set up a play course in your garden with them and combine them with garden elements (ideal for taking out the garden furniture at the same time). Perfect for exercise and coordination. ππΌπ€ΈββοΈ
Tip : You can also rent a set of Stacking Stones at Fairplace or at Re-Play .
6. Build an obstacle course inside
Don't feel like going outside? Use cushions, chairs, and blankets to build an indoor play course. How quickly can you get through it without touching the floor (=lava!) π?
Tip : Use the accessories from the Plug tent kits to attach all kinds of obstacles.
7. Still having a rainy day? Go puddle-dancing!
Put on your wellies and go splashing around in the puddles π§οΈ Make mud soup in the garden and get your garden ready for spring together. Dirty hands? Wash them up inside afterward. A glass of hot chocolate and the cold will be quickly forgotten.
8. Sensory play, ever heard of it?
Sensory play is gently engaging all your senses: touch, smell, hearing, and experiencing. Be amazed by what toys can do. Discover the new sensory block set at Fairplace, for example. With their fun shapes and surprising contents, they're sure to delight any child.
Curious ? Register for our Play Day on March 15th . In half a day, you'll discover six brands of sensory toys and try them out with your child(ren). The morning session is almost sold out, but there are still a few spots available for the morning or afternoon .
